I’m a freelance culture writer and film critic. I’m also a columnist for The Globe and Mail

I cover books, design, fashion, food, and film and belong to the Toronto Film Critics’ Association. As a regular books contributor to Zoomer magazine I do author interviews and literary essays, and write the monthly Novel Encounters ficton column). Lately I’ve written for BBC Culture, CNN StyleVulture, ZoomerThe Kit, cléo, FASHION, and Noir City and previously for the National Post newspaper, where I spent several years as staff arts writer, culture columnist and the award-winning editor of Weekend Post Style & Design.

I’ve been a guest lecturer at TIFF, Ryerson, the Bata Shoe Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Art Gallery of Ontario. I often contribute culture commentary as an on-air guest and have conducted onstage interviews at the International Festival of Authors, the Toronto Public library, the Lightbox, and the Vancouver International Film Festival. I’m also the creator and host of Designing the Movies, the film lecture series at Toronto’s historic Revue Cinema.
